Many Syrian refugees have suffered physical and emotional traumas, including being subjected to or witnessing violence, being separated from loved ones, displacement, and resettlement issues. Muslim refugees face increased obstacles to resettlement in the US, as well as additional stigma and marginalization. Many Arabs living in the United States, regardless of refugee or immigrant status, experience trauma and marginalization due to racism, Islamophobia, micro-aggressions, violence and other intersecting factors.
